Top 10 overpowered super abilities your fictional characters can possess
Is #1 the most overpowered?
When done right, supernatural abilities can spice up your story, adding depth and enhancing character development. They provide opportunities to wow readers with compelling origin stories, showing how characters acquired their abilities and how they use them. Moreover, it's exciting when characters perform extraordinary feats that fascinate readers.
I've ranked the top 10 most overpowered supernatural abilities a fictional character can possess, complete with examples, in descending order.
#10 Invisibility
Characters with the ability to vanish into thin air, like Susan Storm from the Fantastic Four, the ring-bearer in The Lord of the Rings, and Major from Ghost in the Shell, can be formidable opponents. This power is perfect for stealth and espionage, providing an element of surprise over their rivals in various situations.
#9 Teleportation
Characters such as Doctor Manhattan, Raven from the Teen Titans, and Nightcrawler from X-Men possess the remarkable ability to teleport.
By defying space and logic, they can instantly travel to any location they desire. This makes them unpredictable and gives them a significant advantage in combat, as anyone who has tried to dodge an unexpected attack can attest to.
#8 Shapeshifting
Mystique from the X-Men, Martian Manhunter, and Beast Boy from Teen Titans.
fictional characters that can transform into, animals, humans, or other creatures can be overpowered depending on how they use their abilities. If their shapeshifting ability gives them the qualities and powers of the new shape they transform into, the more overpowered they become.
#7 Elemental Control
All the Avatars from the Avatar franchise, Storm from the X-Men, and Human Torch from the Fantastic Four.
The ability to manipulate the very building blocks of nature is a superpower that can tip the scales of balance in any fictional world. With the power to control elements like fire, water, earth, or air, a character can have immense influence over their environment and adversaries.
#6 Speed
As in Barry Allen, the Flash, Dash from the Incredibles, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Being able to cover a vast distance in a ridiculous amount of time; the speed of sound or light is insane. Speedsters can escape danger, traps, or confinement easily making them nearly uncatchable.
In combat, they're almost invincible, and in some instances, they can even use their speed to manipulate time. Speed can be applied in countless situations, making the characters who possess this supernatural ability adaptable and formidable in various contexts.
#5 Super Strength
Superman, The Hulk, Wonder Woman, and Juggernaut from the X-Men.
Give a flat character super strength and that quality alone makes them a menace, give a round character super strength and they become overpowered.
They take on confrontations head-on, survive extreme conditions, and can lift massive objects. A hit from them is fatal to their opposition and in most scenarios they become bulletproof.
#4 Telepathy
As in Professor X from The X-Men, The Silversurfer, and Brainiac.
Characters with telepathic abilities can read the minds of people around them, compel them, and incapacitate them simply by controlling their minds. Oppositions never see a telepathic attack coming so it's much harder to defend against and most times characters with telepathic abilities can attack from a distance.
#3 Telekinesis
As in Jean Gray from The X-Men, Darth Vader, and every Jedi from Star Wars and Tornado of Terror from One Punch Man.
The ability to move objects with just one's mind can give any character an insane level of power. They can lift, and disarm their opponents, reorganize their environment to gain added advantage, and attack opposition from different angles at the same time.
#2 Time Manipulation
For example, Hiro Nakamura from Heroes, â„–4 from The Umbrella Academy, and Dr. Strange. Time manipulation abilities are closely related to speed. The crucial distinction between these abilities lies in awareness, which may seem minimal but is significant.Â
With speed, people around are aware that something is happening, although they can barely see what’s going on. Nonetheless, this awareness allows them to mount a defense or a counterattack depending on the situation.Â
On the other hand, with time manipulation, only the character with the ability knows what’s happening. They can stop and travel through time, making changes unknown to the people around them.
#1 Regeneration / Immortality
As in Deadpool, Wolverine from The X-Men, Muzan Kibutsuji from Demon Slayers.
Characters who can't die are simply just overpowered, for one they lack the fear of death which is the basis for all fears, time is always on their side and they simply will get whatever they want no matter how long it takes because they can't die.

Joshua, you have my attention. I'm critical on how they portray everything you just wrote about, so well, in your newsletter. I take it you're looking forward to the next "Phases." Not sure about RDJ as Doom. Not his acting ability. Couldn't they go for Giancarlo Esposito? Cillian Murphy?
